New Song

This week I've been working on a 13 acre veggie farm on the Kildare/Wicklow border. One man and his dog run the place. It's a huge amount of work and he does a great job.

Like the last place there is an interest in bio-dynamics but less of an interest in those confusing magic spells. He hopes in the future that he'll have more time to farm according to the bio-dynamic principles, but I'd say that's a lot to ask - 13 acres is a lot of hard work.

I learnt a lot this week, but perhaps the biggest lesson was not to over stretch oneself if you don't have to. Small scale growing may not generate the same profits but whilst quality of life may suffer in one sense, it may improve in another.
