Geri Halliwell

This morning I listened to this years Reith Lectures. Jeffrey Sachs argues for an optimistic reappraisal of global politics that will fight the challenges that face our generations lives in an over populated and polluted world. Great! Not really.

The Q&A session led to some interesting challenges from eminent pessimists who question whether we as humans can harness reason to make optimistic change. Then the drum roll, the fanfare and the true voice of optimism sang forth .....an ineloquent, moronic idiot who doesn't know her arse from her elbow, still parroting the 'Girl Power' mantra - for fucks sake!

I felt robbed. The lecture which was full of such optimism lost it's momentum thanks to an idiot looking for any platform she can use to self promote. If I had any any optimism it seeped out of me at that point. Replaced by rage and overwhelming desire to learn voodoo or the way of the Ninja. Anything to rid this planet of the disease that inhabits glossys, the tabloids and MTV.

Anyway. I am calm again! I would urge all of you Townsfolk to click on this link and listen to the lecture. In this age of doom and gloom it's refreshing (if nothing else), to hear an optimist. Put aside your negativity, forget his reliance on JFK and believe we can be better people.

We can make choices if we understand them.
