Changes 2

On bored the SS Spud:

It doesn´t take much to stick out. I traded my nylon rucksack for an older canvas one, wore flip flops and a sun hat and bob´s your dads brother - I´m sticking out like a day-glow stick. Something for the Nylon Polymers to gawp at. Or is it just me? Am I sitting on on this boat next to another unkempt man, thinking I´m a day-glow stick. Shit I don´t know now, but something is definitely not right and whatever it is - I´m on the radar. Thank fuck for free cinema even if Tom Hank´s mullet is frying my head.

Road:

The Road- lifts galore. Backseat and mute. Listening to Gloopus use his admirable French to full effect. Easy going drivers. God bless you Pierre et Marie - we should have built the tunnel years ago and Joan of Arc was a righteous bitch. Swim anyone?

Europes Largest Dune:

PLastic stairs, 190 of them, to the top of this great mound of sand. When you get there, it´s odd - Forest moon of Endor canopy on one side and the Atlantic on the other. You run, run, run down to the sea. Hot from 12 hours hitching and the sea lifts a huge wave of well being and you´re lying on your back drinking a beer and watching the boats drift up and down the
Lagoon, or is that Magoon, cos it´s not quite a lagoon, being one sand bank short of a lagoon - bit like Magoo.

Road:
Oh yeah, they´ll let you on to the road, but then once you´re there they will tease time out of you until you can´t remember why it was you were hitching in the dust and dirt. Thank fuck for the youth, who despite the sweat and smell stoip for you just when you had given up hope of getting there to see your girl and hold her like a long draught.

There to there, across France from shore to shore and the cost in money, is nothing it´s value still not quantified but you´re happy to be swimming on a spanish beach with your girl and the Gloop emerging from the surf a grubby Jesus.
