The Wicklow Way...

is now 25 years old, and over the last four days we have been celebrating it's long and winding path through Dublin and Wicklow. It's a great walk - Spectacular and only a bounce away, (starting in Marley Park). The scenery is very similar to parts of New Zealand'S South Island - the route offers the same opportunites to camp out in the 'wild'.

Really striking, the total lack of of other walkers. In four days we only passed 5 other people. This worries me. What are the walking public of Ireland doing? Perhaps they know of a better place to be, surely somewhere other than Glendalough? Are treadmills taking place of hills? Are the Irish losing touch with the land? If you are Irish and are losing touch with the land, I believe you should be walking.. go here for walking advice. If you are English and losing touch with the Irish land, they'll probably thank you for it.
